The story of the phoenix-like mythical bird Emerald Anqa, or Zümrüd-ü Anka, is one about finding truth within oneself. All birds embark on a difficult journey to their home in the branches of the Tree of Life on the summit of Mount Qaf as it rises out of the clouds. Thirty birds succeed in passing through the bottomless valleys of love, selfishness, denial, frustration, jealousy, astonishment and poverty before encountering a mirror that reflects them all as One at the end of this painful journey, so they may attain unity.
